3 WAYS TO CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S WITH A NEWBORN
You’re tired, overwhelmed, stressed and drained. Ok, but believe it or not you can still have a romantic day with your partner now you’re a parent. Read on for our top tips on how to make Valentine’s special as a new parent!
1) WAYS TO CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S WITH A NEWBORN: THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
Sadly, with lockdown in full swing, dining out is off the cards for everyone this year, so even if you wanted to hit your local restaurant, it wouldn’t be an option. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a romantic meal with your other half to celebrate February 14th. Once baby goes down for the night (or for a couple of hours), try to create a ‘dinner-out’ feel at home. Pop some bubbly and dig out your best china. Even if you’re just serving up bangers and mash, using your fancy plates will help to create a romantic atmosphere.
2) WAYS TO CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S WITH A NEWBORN: WRITE LOVE NOTES
A really simple way to bring about a bit of romance is to leave love notes around the house. Instead of just handing over a Valentine’s Card at breakfast, try something fun like putting it under your partner’s pillow. Build on that theme by hiding additional love notes around the house. And remember, this doesn’t have to be exclusive to Valentine’s Day. A packet of Post-It Notes should give you love note opportunities 360 days a year.
3) WAYS TO CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S WITH A NEWBORN: CELEBRATE MEMORIES
If you’re going to buy a present forget about all the cliches like bunches of flowers and balloons. Flowers are a no-go because the last thing either of you needs is another living thing to take care of. As for balloons, well unless you’re taking the reusable route, you’re going to be contributing to the 3 billion nappies per year in England and Wales alone that end up as waste. With this in mind, do you really want to be adding to plastic pollution with your pink and red balloons? Just saying… Instead, opt for something meaningful like a family picture or a keepsake of baby’s foot print.
