Hacks include:
- Sleep when baby sleeps and resist the urge to do chores. The laundry can wait.
- Every time you get home, clean out the nappy bag and refill it so it’s ready for the next day.
- Put a list of tasks on the fridge for visitors to help out with.
- A kitchen sink is a perfect height for bathing baby – particularly if you are recovering from a birth.
- If you want to wear baby in a sling, ditch the shoulder bag, which will get in the way and opt for a backpack instead.
- Keep a changing station on every floor of the house so you don’t have to go up and down every time.
- Moisturize cradle cap with coconut oil and use a baby comb to gently remove the flaking skin.
- Apply nappy cream with a clean makeup brush to avoid getting it on your fridge.
- Keep an exercise ball in baby’s bedroom. Some newborns love to be bounced to sleep.
- Lie down and have baby do tummy time on your chest. It’s great for bonding and bub will feel close to you.
- Layer a few muslins on the changing mat so you always have a clean one to hand.
- Use sleep bags that zip up rather than poppers. They are much easier for middle-of-the-night changes.
